The Leeds United Chelsea team news is already taking shape ahead of Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup third-round tie at Stamford Bridge: Daniel Farke travels to London without Joe Rodon, but with two deadline-day signings still waiting on their first minutes in a white shirt.
Rodon limped out of the Brentford draw at Elland Road and the Yorkshire Evening Post report the Wales defender suffered a serious hamstring injury. His absence was covered at Brighton by the return of Gabriel Gudmundsson, who came through 90 minutes on his first appearance of the season in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at the Amex.
Leeds United Chelsea team news: Bard and Bahoya still waiting
Melvin Bard and Jean-Matteo Bahoya, the last two arrivals of a seven-signing summer, were available on the bench on the south coast without getting on. A cup tie in London looks the obvious moment for Farke to hand Bahoya and Bard their debuts.
Chelsea’s own problems
Chelsea are not short of absentees either. Jordan Henderson is yet to feature since his summer move from Brentford, Marco Palestra has not played this season, and Moises Caicedo missed Sunday’s defeat at Arsenal with Xabi Alonso refusing to rush him back. Levi Colwill was dropped to the bench at the Emirates because of what Alonso called a “little” issue.
Leeds arrive unbeaten in all competitions, with five points from three Premier League games and a 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest already banked in this competition. Farke holds his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
