Nottingham Forest will meet Leeds United at the City Ground on Tuesday night without their best player, after Morgan Gibbs-White was ruled out of the Carabao Cup second-round tie. The 26-year-old twisted his ankle in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to the Whites, Oliver Glasner confirmed on Monday, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Gibbs-White joins captain Ryan Yates and defender Nicolò Savona on the sidelines, leaving Glasner without three senior men for a second meeting with Daniel Farke’s side in four days. Forest insist there is no lasting damage.
Speaking to Forest’s official website, Glasner said: “Morgan Gibbs-White will miss tomorrow’s game. He got the ball and twisted his ankle, so the MCL was a little bit overstretched and he has some pain in his knee.” He added: “There is no structural damage, but there’s no point in risking him tomorrow. We’re working really hard to get him fit for the Liverpool game on Saturday.”
Leeds United’s own selection questions
Farke is not short of absentees. Gabriel Gudmundsson remains out with a muscular problem picked up in pre-season, while Willy Gnonto and Ilia Gruev are doubts. Summer signing Nico Elvedi, an unused substitute on Saturday, is in with a chance of a first Leeds appearance.
Kick-off is at 8pm, with Farke chasing a first Carabao Cup third-round appearance as Leeds boss after last season’s exit at Sheffield Wednesday. Glasner, for his part, insists the cup matters: “We want to have the same approach no matter the competition and try to win a trophy.”
