Leeds United team news ahead of Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup second-round trip to Nottingham Forest has taken clearer shape. Gabriel Gudmundsson is expected to remain sidelined with the muscular problem he picked up in pre-season, while Willy Gnonto and Ilia Gruev are both doubts, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported on Monday morning ahead of Daniel Farke’s afternoon press conference. Kick-off at the City Ground is 8pm.

Three first-team players missed Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League win at the same ground through injury, Gudmundsson the most notable of them. Farke now has scope to reshuffle: three of his summer arrivals — James Trafford, Tarik Muharemović and Harry Wilson — made their competitive debuts in that opener, and a fourth could follow on Tuesday in Nico Elvedi, an unused substitute at the weekend. The Whites also have last season’s early exit at Sheffield Wednesday to answer for.
The YEP’s Kyle Newbould expects Farke to address all three fitness cases this afternoon, “albeit it’s unlikely much has changed since late last week”, and sees “plenty of opportunity to rotate for this cup opener” — the bigger shift, in other words, coming in the starting XI rather than the treatment room.
